Pollinator Week is an annual celebration managed by Pollinator Partnership to support pollinator health and raise awareness about their importance. This year’s theme, “Vision 2040: Thriving ecosystems, economies, and agriculture,” emphasizes envisioning a future where pollinators not only survive but thrive.
Our celebration aims to educate and engage the community in protecting and preserving pollinators. By adopting sustainable practices and understanding the impact of our actions, we can ensure a flourishing future for both nature and humanity.
This year’s Pollinator Week 2024 was celebrated from June 17-23, 2024.
Participation
The event spanned across four districts in Nepal: 1. Sunsari, 2. Udayapur, 3. Khotang and 4. Kathmandu.
Activities were conducted in five schools, two community forest and one campus:

Activities and Highlights
- Educational Presentations: Conducted in multiple schools, these sessions highlighted the importance of pollinators and their impact on ecosystems. Interactive elements and Q&A sessions engaged students, making the learning experience enjoyable and memorable.
- Face Painting: A major attraction at various venues, face painting featured colorful designs of bees, butterflies, bats, and beetles, encouraging artistic expression and deeper engagement with the theme of pollinator conservation.
- Drawing Competitions: Students participated in drawing competitions themed around pollinator conservation, with the best drawings awarded conservation-themed storybooks.
- Bee Hotel Installation: In Udayapur’s Saraswati Community Forest, we installed a bee hotel and planted flowers to provide additional nectar sources, celebrating pollinator week with a hike in the community forest.
- Ranibari Community Forest Event: A two-day event that included documentary screenings, props photography, coloring activities, face painting, quizzes, and informational booths. Approximately 120 visitors participated, gaining insights into the vital role of pollinators.
- Launch of the Himalayan Pollinator Patrol: We introduced our new citizen science program, encouraging community members to observe and document pollinators using data sheets and the iNaturalist platform. This program aims to gather valuable data to support research, inform policies, and drive effective conservation strategies.
Overall, Pollinator Week 2024 successfully engaged diverse audiences, fostering a community committed to the conservation of pollinators. Through educational activities, artistic expressions, and citizen science initiatives, we have taken significant steps contributing a safe future for pollinators in Nepal.
