We are thrilled to share an inspiring update from Shree Sharada Secondary School in Haunchur, Khotang, one of the participating schools in our Eco-Club for Chinese Pangolin Conservation project. The school’s newly formed Evergreen Eco-Club recently celebrated World Pangolin Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and commitment, marking a significant milestone in their journey as young conservationists.
Evergreen Eco-Club: A Beacon of Conservation
Led by Grisma Rai, the Evergreen Eco-Club consists of 15 dedicated student members and is supported by two guardian teachers: Headmaster Harka Bahadur Karki and Teacher Mohan Joshi. The club has also expanded its reach by including all students as Green Volunteers, fostering a school-wide culture of environmental stewardship.
World Pangolin Day Celebration
On World Pangolin Day 2025, the Evergreen Eco-Club organized a vibrant event attended by 35 students. The celebration aimed to raise awareness about the critically endangered Chinese pangolin and inspire action for its conservation. Key activities included:
- Educational Sessions: Students learned about the ecological importance of pangolins, their role as natural pest controllers, and the threats they face, such as habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade with pangolin educational video from our Milijuli educational video series.
- Interactive Activities: The club conducted coloring activity to engage students and deepen their understanding of pangolin conservation.
Impact
The Evergreen Eco-Club’s celebration of World Pangolin Day not only educated students but also strengthened their commitment to conservation.
A Model for Conservation
The Evergreen Eco-Club is a great example of how young people can lead meaningful conservation efforts through eco-club. Their dedication and creativity are inspiring others to take action for pangolins and biodiversity in Khotang.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Headmaster Harka Bahadur Karki, Teacher Mohan Joshi, and Grisma Rai for their leadership, as well as to all the students and Green Volunteers for their enthusiasm and hard work. Together, we are building a brighter future for pangolins and our planet.

Thank you so much.
