Dear Nature Lovers,
We are excited to announce the Big Butterfly Count Nepal 2024, a nationwide citizen science initiative to monitor and conserve our precious butterfly populations. This event is jointly organized by Nature Conservation and Study Centre (NCSC) and Butterfly Watchers Nepal (BWN) in collaboration with Institute of Science and Technology, Central Campus of Technology, TU; Research Association Hattisar, Central Campus of Technology, Dharan; Nepal Student Association of Microbiology, Central Campus of Technology, Dharan, and Eco Conservancy, Nepal.
Event Details:
- Dates: July 12 – August 5, 2024
- Duration: Spend just 15 minutes counting butterflies in your chosen location or spend as much as you want.
We invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavor. Your participation will help gather vital data on butterfly populations and contribute to biodiversity conservation efforts in Nepal. Whether you are a seasoned butterfly enthusiast or a curious beginner, your involvement is invaluable.
How to Participate:
- Download ID chart of some common butterflies.

- Choose a location for your butterfly count.
- Spend 15 minutes observing and counting butterflies.
- Record your observations in your notebook or mobile and email to us at info@ncsc.org.np. OR install “inaturalist” mobile app join “Himalayan Pollinator Patrol” group and upload your photographs.
