This year, we celebrated World Pangolin Day 2025 with the theme “Youth Legacy for Pangolin Conservation” across four districts in Nepal—Sunsari, Jhapa, Morang, and Khotang. The event brought together over 450 participants, including students, teachers, and volunteers, to raise awareness about pangolins, the world’s most trafficked mammals, and the urgent need to protect them.
Through engaging activities like interactive presentations, drawing competitions, face painting, essay writing, and coloring activities, students learned about the ecological importance of pangolins, the threats they face, and how they can contribute to their conservation.
The celebrations took place in schools, where young minds were encouraged to think creatively and take responsibility for protecting these unique creatures.
Event Report
In Sunsari, students participated in pangolin-themed drawing competitions and face painting, while in Jhapa, interactive discussions highlighted the challenges pangolins face and practical ways to help. In Morang, a presentation session sparked curiosity among students, followed by creative drawing activities. In Khotang, essay writing competitions and educational sessions reached hundreds of students, spreading vital conservation messages.
We are grateful to all the schools, volunteers, and partner organizations who made this event possible. While we don’t know the full impact of the celebration, we hope it inspired young people to care about pangolins and take small steps toward their protection.
Looking ahead, we aim to expand our efforts by reaching more communities, providing ongoing education, and working closely with local stakeholders. Together, we can continue to raise awareness and take action to protect pangolins and their habitats.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating World Pangolin Day 2025. Let’s keep the momentum going and work toward a future where pangolins thrive in the wild!
