From June 16 to 22, we teamed up with Research Association Hattisar (RAH) and other partners to celebrate Pollinator Week 2025 under the theme “Pollinators Weave Connections.” This was a huge effort that blended field exploration, school education, and a heartfelt tribute.
By the numbers, we accomplished a lot:
- 166 Students reached through awareness programs.
- 3 School Programs conducted in Dharan and Itahari.
- 3 Butterfly Watching Hikes across diverse trails.
- 10+ Active Volunteers helping every step of the way.
Highlights from the Week:
The week was structured around field-based learning. We ran three butterfly-watching hikes along trails like Shivajatta, Bishnupaduka, and Danabari. Students used field guides to practice identification, silent observation, and nature journaling—getting hands-on experience with how pollinators behave in their natural habitat.
We also conducted three engaging awareness programs at schools like UN School, Blooming Lotus E. S. School, and Public High School. These sessions taught students about the critical role pollinators (like bees, butterflies, moths, birds, and bats) play in our food supply and ecosystem health.
A Special Tribute to Putali Baje
The week concluded on a reflective note with a candlelight tribute to Collin Smith, affectionately known as Putali Baje. As a pioneer of butterfly conservation in Nepal, his commitment was deeply inspiring. We gathered to honor his remarkable legacy and renew our collective commitment to continue his work.
Thank you to all the students, volunteers, and partners who made Pollinator Week 2025 a success. Let’s keep working to protect the tiny creatures that feed our world!
