This year, we really broadened our efforts for Save The Frogs Day, conducting programs over multiple days and in multiple districts!
We’re thrilled to report a huge success: we reached 199 students, had 20 dedicated volunteers helping out, and together we collected 21 kg of waste from a crucial habitat.
Here’s a quick look at the highlights from the two main areas:
1. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve & Sunsari
The celebration kicked off with a Habitat Cleaning Program near Koshi Tappu, where volunteers worked hard to remove litter and pollution from local wetlands. This hands-on work is crucial for keeping frog habitats safe and clean.
We also engaged the academic community with a Research Poster Presentation program. Students analyzed and presented existing research on amphibian conservation—a great way to foster critical thinking among future scientists.
Later, our school awareness campaign took place at Dharan Ligament Residential School (Sunsari), engaging over 71 students with interactive presentations, frog-themed face painting, and a coloring competition.
2. Khotang District
Our partners in Khotang successfully ran an awareness session at Diktel English Secondary Boarding School, reaching 128 students from Classes 7 and 8. The program included educational sessions on the frog life cycle and a pencil coloring activity to combine art with conservation education.
Why Frogs Matter
Every activity highlighted the vital role frogs play—like controlling pests and maintaining ecosystem balance. We want to thank all 20 volunteers, students, and our partners for their amazing energy and commitment.
The event’s success showed that when we combine education, cleaning up habitats, and fun activities, we can truly spark a deeper appreciation for amphibians. Keep protecting our wetlands!
