GIS Training Held at Central Campus of Technology, Dharan

A 5-day GIS training program was held at the Central Campus of Technology (CCT) in Dharan from February 7th to 12th, 2024, for graduate students from CCT and Mechi Multiple Campus. The program, organized in collaboration with Research Association Hattisar (RAH) and Nepal Student Association Of Microbiology (NSAM), aimed to equip students with the fundamentals of GIS and its applications in various fields.

The training was led by Asmit Limbu from the NCSC and covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • GIS fundamentals: datums, projections, vectors and rasters
  • Data analysis and visualization techniques
  • Creating and editing spatial data
  • Real-world applications of GIS
  • Fishnet work and random sampling
  • Remote sensing for biodiversity studies
  • Slope analysis and elevations

The training sessions were highly interactive and engaging, with 9 participants, 2 from Mechi Multiple Campus and 7 from CCT, actively participating in discussions and hands-on exercises. The program concluded with a grand closing ceremony where certificates were distributed to the participants.
