On October 25th, a one-day awareness program was held in Lasune Bazar, Terathum District, to educate local communities about the importance of orchids in the ecosystem.
The program, which was attended by 14 participants from the Tinjure and Tinjure Raatpokhari Community Forests, highlighted the diversity of orchids in the region, including 16 identified species. Participants were surprised to learn that terrestrial orchids, such as Habenaria arietina, Calanthe chloroleuca, and Satyrium nepalense, are equally important as epiphytic orchids.
This awareness program is a crucial step in conserving orchids in the region. By understanding the value of these delicate plants, local communities can take steps to protect them and their habitats.
