We’re Shell-ebrating: World Turtle Day 2025 Wrap-Up!

On May 23, 2025, we teamed up with our partners to mark World Turtle Day with an educational event aimed at inspiring young conservationists. The program took place at Sunakhari Academy in Dharan-12, targeting students from grades 8, 9, and 10.

The day was a success, with over 70 students actively joining in the fun!

Here’s a look at what we did:

  • Multimedia Presentation: We started with an informative session covering the vital role turtles play in our ecosystems, the threats they currently face, and global conservation efforts.
  • Turtle-Themed Face Painting: Our volunteers got creative by painting students’ faces with turtle and ocean-related designs. This was a super fun way to connect students with the species.
  • Coloring Competition: Students let their imagination flow in a turtle coloring competition. This helped them express their understanding of wildlife protection through art, with the best entries receiving awards.
  • Puzzle Challenge: We also hosted a turtle-themed jigsaw and crossword puzzle challenge. It was a race against the clock to see who could solve the puzzles fastest, all while learning new turtle facts!

The Takeaway

By combining a solid conservation presentation with creative and interactive games, we successfully raised awareness about these ancient and often-overlooked creatures. The event inspired a strong sense of responsibility among the young participants.

The final message was clear: protecting wildlife starts with learning and caring. Even small actions, like reducing plastic use, can make a huge difference for turtles and local water bodies.

A big thank you to Sunakhari Academy and all our partners for a great World Turtle Day!
