Himalayan Pollinator Patrol Data Now on GBIF!

Great news, citizen scientists! We’re thrilled to announce that all the data collected during Pollinator Week and Big Butterfly Count Nepal 2024 is now available on the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) under our Himalayan Pollinator Patrol program!

Your observations are making a difference!

Thanks to your contributions, we’ve uploaded a valuable dataset with over 146 records. This includes sightings of:

  • 103 Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths)
  • 4 Hymenoptera (bees and wasps)
  • 1 Phasmida (stick insect)
  • 34 Chordata (vertebrates observed interacting with pollinators)

Every record you submit helps us better understand the amazing diversity of pollinators in the Himalayas.

Want to contribute even more?

There’s still time to share your observations from Pollinator Week and Big Butterfly Count Nepal!

Here’s how:

You can submit your data using two methods:

  • iNaturalist: Use the iNaturalist app to upload your observations directly from your smartphone to our project Himalayan Pollinator Patrol.
  • Data Sheet: Download our Pollinator Data Sheet and fill it out during your observation sessions. You can then submit the completed data sheet to our email address info@ncsc.org.np.

Both methods help us compile accurate and comprehensive data on pollinator activity in the Himalayan region.

Explore the data!

You can now access our dataset on GBIF and explore the incredible variety of pollinators documented by citizen scientists like you.
